MOTTE PICQUET PROJECT

Architect: DIANE DE SEDOUY

Lighting: Nedgis

Location : 75015 Paris

In a winter garden, total renovation of an apartment, Paris 15th, 180m2.

The first time we entered this apartment, we, like the customers, immediately felt that very special feeling of not being in Paris.

Gathered together over several decades, different rooms spread over two floors made up this odd apartment that had never been renovated. At times, we felt as if we were on a cruise ship, but at other times, we felt as if we were back in the 1930s, as the apartment was so imbued with that era.

Beyond the questions of layout and organization of the new spaces, there were heavy plumbing and structural issues. The Art Deco influence of the building and the apartment led us to think about a renovation and decoration that would be faithful to this incredibly inspiring period.

The skylights and arches were created and made entirely to measure. The cornices in the living room and dining room were designed by us, inspired by an Art Deco motif. On the upper floor, where the under-roofs are very present, the problems to be solved were numerous and complex. We had to create four real bedrooms, three bathrooms and, above all, bring a lot of light to the very dark landing.

The former storeroom was transformed into a huge bathroom with a monumental shower that follows the slope of the roof. An island bathtub takes pride of place in the center of the room, making the most of this rooftop space with its view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower.
