Pierre Guariche

Pierre Guariche is a mythical French designer of the 20th century.
Born in 1926, at the age of 19, Pierre Guariche entered the National Higher School of decorative arts and graduated in 1949.
He is a member of the Union of Modern Artists (UAM).
From 1953 to 1957, he developed his plastic research workshop, with Michel Mortier and Joseph-André Motte. From 1957, he became head of the furniture department for the Belgian company Meurop and produced his own research.
Before that, it was Galerie MAI that produced and published its first pieces of furniture, followed by the publishers: Airborne, Disderot, Meubles TV, Huchers-Minvielle, Luminalite, Steiner and more recently Maison du Monde.
At the height of his career, he sometimes took on the role of architect, as in his villa on ”rue de Dombasle” in Paris, or in ski resorts (Courchevel, Val d'Isère, La Plagne).
In 1965, he received the René Gabriel Prize.
He died in 1995.
