Born in Milan, Nicola Gallizia is one of the most important contemporary italian designer. After graduating in Architecture from Milan's Polytechnic, he quickly began his career.
From 1990 to 1999, he collaborated with Luca Meda as an assistant in products design for the brands Molteni&C and Dada. In 1999 he became art director and designer at the Camera Group and designed Wood, China and Aprile lamps for Penta. He also created catalogues and stand designs for the main fairs and exhibitions.
He is known around the world for his projects in architecture, lighting design and furnitures design. Mostly inspired by the Milanese style, he plays with the italian codes and creates his own identity. The geometric shapes, simple angles and linear compositions are characteristic of his design vision. We can also notice a very personnal palette composed of shades of brown, brass, grey, earth and mineral colours. He also loves to use rich materials like wood or brushed metal to give a sophisticated and strong dimension to his collection.
Since 2005, he has his own studio in Viale where he and his staff work on differents architectural and design projects.
He received the Good Design Award in 2008 for the China lamp and won the Wallpaper Magazine Design Award in 2017 with his Domino collection.
